Week 7: Bonfires & Best Friends!

It is the 7th week of my second semester and I can't decide if time is flying by or dragging slowly.  I guess it's a little of both.  This week was full of spontaneous adventures but also packed with lazy days!

About half way through the week, Nikki got sick and had to go to the doctor.  So for the rest of the week while she was recovering we basically camped out in the living room and had several movie days.  We watched Insidious 2 (we want to go see the third one which just came out), The Uninvited, 13 going on 30, Read it and Weep, The Best of Me, Big Hero 6, The Rugrats Movie, etc.  Like I said, lots of lazy days!

On Friday I saw a sign on campus that said "Blood Drive." I headed straight to the location listed on the sign and signed in. I don't know why, but I LOVE giving blood; I think it's fascinating. But maybe spontaneously giving blood isn't such a terrific idea because I hadn't had much (any) water that day, so I was really light headed for a few hours after giving blood and I had to drink lots of water! On the bright side, the lady got the needle in the right place on the first poke, and it barely even hurt! Plus, my blood was flowing crazy fast so my whole bag filled up in 4 minutes! And of course, the free cookies and juice afterwards is always nice.

Saturday morning I found myself with nothing to do, but then my roommates and I were invited by some other girls on our hall to go to the Warm Slough here in Rexburg.  The Warm Slough is a River that goes in a loop, and a lot of people buy floats and float down the river.  Here's the first thing you should know: Despite its name, the Warm Slough is NOT warm.  It was the coldest water I've ever been in! The second thing you should know is that Rexburg weather changes in the blink of an eye. It can be sunny and 75º one minute, and raining and 60º the next.  Anyways, while it was warm and sunny, somehow we all managed to get in the water on our floats, and even though our legs turned purple from the cold water, we got used to it eventually. And just when things were finally looking up, it started thundering and lightning! WHILE WE WERE FLOATING DOWN A RIVER!!! Long story short, we started to help our floats along and made it to the other end before we all died. So that's good I guess.  Since we were all freezing cold, we decided to make a fire (despite the rain) and have s'mores! All in all, it was a pretty fun day. I'm glad we didn't die....

This isn't my picture, I found it online.

This also isn't my picture, I don't know who those people are...
I just wanted to show what "floating down the river" entailed. lol

Nikki & I, as usual!
mmmmm, s'mores!

This week I have to register for my classes for next semester so I need to figure out what I'm taking. Thankfully I still have all A's though, so my GPA is looking up.  I miss everyone so much and I can't wait to get home! Just 5 more weeks!

XOXO,
Anna.
