BYUI Weeks 6&7: Utah and Blessings!

I know I haven't posted on time the last 2 weeks, but I've either been super busy or just not in the mood to write.  After writing a gazillion English papers, writing becomes kind of a chore.  But right now its the middle of the night, I've got a lot on my mind, and I want to write.

So last Thursday I was sitting in anatomy class when I got the sudden urge to go to Utah. At about 1:45, while still in class, I texted my friend Cali and asked her if she wanted to go with me.  We left for Utah at 3.  Talk about a spur of the moment trip.  Our drive down was actually quite enjoyable, we are good road tripping buddies.

I dropped Cali off in Salt Lake City Thursday night because she was staying with another friend for the weekend, and I went to stay with one of my favorite people ever...SISTER HALL...oh, that's right, I can call you Jenika now! We had such a great time watching movies, eating waffles, and building Lego castles.  I'm so glad I got to see her and if you're reading this, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.

On Friday I drove down to Lehi, Utah and had lunch with my Aunt Karen, Uncle Ao, and their kids.  I haven't seen them in years so it was nice to catch up!  After lunch I headed down to Blanding, Utah, where all of my dad's side of the family lives.

I had such an amazing time in Utah.  I really needed some time to be around family and that is exactly what I got when I went.  I got to meet some new little cousins and catch up with all the others.  I went to my family's meat plant and watched my uncle gut, skin, and decapitate a deer...fun stuff.  I got to drive my grandpa for about an hour while he led me to and told me all about the history of Bluff, Utah.  I don't get to spend much time with my grandparents on that side so it was so enjoyable to just be able to spend one on one time with him and to hear all of his stories; he's a really funny guy! I also got to spend the day at my cousin Lisa's house and get to know her kids.  They drew me some nice pictures which are now hanging on my wall in my room. I really wish I could have stayed longer, but I had to leave on Sunday.

So as I was leaving, I stopped in Moab to see my cousin Morgan, who was on her way back to Blanding. (I'm so glad I got to see you and I love you so much!) Sunday night I stayed at my aunt Karen's house up in Eagle Mountain, Utah. (Thanks for letting me stay!) So finally on Monday morning I headed back up to Idaho, but first I stopped in Provo to see one of my other favorite people ever, SISTER KAISER...McKenzie.  If you're reading this, I'm super glad that I got to see you, even though it was only for a few minutes.  I love you and I will see you again soon!

Then I picked up Cali and we were on our way back to good ole Rexburg.
After I got back from Utah I decided maybe that trip wasn't such a good idea, because now I want to go back so badly.  I loved being surrounded by family and experiencing new things.  Luckily, I get to go back for Thanksgiving.

My week since I got back from Utah has been a pretty slow week.  Friday night I did my roommates makeup for a Halloween party, and then I went to a haunted house with my friends Jessica and Adam.

On Sunday, after church, I had the most incredible experience of getting my patriarchal blessing.  For those of you who don't know what that is, it's something that the member's of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints can get from a church patriarch.  It determines our lineage in the House of Israel, as well as provides council for us directly from God. If you want to learn more about it, Click Here!  It was by far the most spiritual experience I have ever had in my life and definitely strengthened my testimony.

It's now the start of a new week and I hope it will be a great one! I hope you all have a fabulous week as well.

Love,
Anna!
